ABOUT ABOUT

Diomed Presents welcomes Grammy nominated Bluegrass artist The Seldom Scene to historic Mount Airy farm in the Northern Neck of Virginia for a once-in-a-lifetime performance of the classic 1975 double album, "Live At The Cellar Door." This will be your only chance to see the current lineup of the  Seldom Scene perform this album live from start to finish!

Our favorite bluegrass artists The Seldom Scene will play two sets starting at 5:00 pm on Saturday, SEPTEMBER 25TH, 2021 at Mount Airy Farm located just outside Warsaw, Virginia near the Rappahannock river. Shannon Bielski and Moonlight Drive will kickoff the show at 4pm. Parking opens at 2pm.

SELDOM SCENE LIVE @ MOUNT AIRY FARM will take place on the intimate Deer Park lawn of historic Mount Airy with the summer sun sinking into the Rappahannock river and the cool evening breezes blowing in the treetops. Attendees are asked to bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on. A flashlight may also be useful for after the show when returning to your vehicle just after sunset.

Any and all State Covid-19 restrictions still in place will be followed. The Deer Park is a huge lawn bowl venue and there is plenty of space for everyone to spread out a safe distance away from each other and still have a commanding view of the stage.

SHANNON BIELSKI WILL BEGIN THE SHOW AT 4:00 PM. THE SELDOM SCENE WILL START AT 5:00 PM SHARP WITH TWO SETS AND A SHORT INTERMISSION IN BETWEEN. THE EVENT WILL END BY 7:30 PM. PARKING OPENS AND TAILGATING BEGINS AT TWO PM.

The Washington Post called the Scene's LIVE AT THE CELLAR DOOR album, "not only a landmark for the progressive bluegrass scene that originated here in Washington, but maybe the band's finest representation on disc."

John Lawless at Bluegrass Today said, "The 2-LP set was broadly hailed by critics, outside as well as within bluegrass circles, and was re-released by Rebel Records in 2019 as a CD box set with a 12-page booklet and several unpublished photographs. The original introduced thousands of new fans to the music of John Starling, John Duffey, Ben Eldridge, Mike Auldridge, and Tom Gray, and is viewed as one of the most important of the 20th century in this field.

"Current guitarist Dudley Connell says that the guys are looking forward to the challenge of performing all 22 songs, in order, on stage.

“We love playing music for our friends in the Northern Neck. It should be an enjoyable evening as we do our best to perform, for the first and only time, the entire Cellar Door album from start to finish. This was an important album for the original Seldom Scene, and introduced bluegrass to a new community of listeners.”

"With Dudley, other current members include Lou Reid on mandolin, Fred Travers on reso-guitar, Ronnie Simpkins on bass, and Ron Stewart on banjo, talented bluegrass veterans one and all."

General admission tickets are only $35 in advance and $40 at the gate on day of show (if any are left).

A special but limited available VIP ticket includes VIP parking and a reserved seat up front close to the stage, an invite to the pre-party with SELDOM SCENE held before the show and an invite to the Smokehouse After-Party. ALL tix are sold out.

Free parking and handicapped parking is available for all attendees. Parking opens at 2 pm. Seating is on a first come basis. This a rain or shine show so come prepared for either.
